BLUE BLOOD (SANGUE AZUL), multiple winner of the Rio Film Festival, brings the world of the circus to the big screen, telling the story of a forbidden love on a remote island in the Atlantic Ocean. By one of Brazil’s leading veteran filmmakers, Lirio Ferreira made his debut in 1996 with PERFUMED BALL (BAILE PERFUMADO), the first film from Brazil’s Pernambuco region to make an impact on the international festival circuit. It was one of the most remarkable films of the comeback of Brazilian Cinema. Awarded Best Film at the Festival of Brasilia, it was also shown at festivals in Toronto, Havana, among others.
The visually stunning feature took home Best film, director and supporting actor (Romulo Braga) at the Rio Film Festival. It also received the Trophy for Best Cinematography (Mauro Pinheiro Jr, ABC) and Costume Design (Juliana Prysthon) at VI Paulinia Film Festival.
