Young Latvian artist Ansis nagivates three brutal regimes in his pursuit of his art and the Jewish free spirit Zisla, and thinks he’s found peace settling for sign painting and Christian girl Naiga. But his survival hinges on adapting to an ever-more surreal turn of events. Writer/director Viesturs Kairišs’ previous feature film CHRONICLES OF MELANIE was Latvia’s Oscar entry in 2017.
